SLEEP 2012 – APSS Annual Meeting, Boston

Awards - AASM Section Investigator Award

In an effort to encourage membership and attendance at section meetings, foster section identity and honor meritorious research in the field of sleep medicine, each of the eight AASM membership sections will review abstracts from their respective section for consideration in the 2010 Section Investigator Awards. Applicants may submit abstracts for review by any one of the following sections: Childhood Sleep Disorders and Development; Circadian Rhythms; Insomnia; Movement Disorders; Narcolepsy; Parasomnias; Sleep Deprivation; or Sleep Related Breathing Disorders.

The intent of the Section Investigator Awards is to honor the most outstanding abstract from a young investigator within the membership of each section. As such, a young investigator must be a section member, must be first author of the abstract submission, and must be out of training (residency for MDs or post-doctoral for PhDs) for no more than five years in order to apply. This must be the first time the abstract has been submitted to the SLEEP Annual Meeting.

The award consists of a certificate and honorarium that will be presented during the applicable section meeting. Additionally, the winner will be asked to present their abstract at the close of the section meeting.

To apply for the AASM Section Investigator Award, applicants will need to use the APSS abstract submission system. During the application process, applicants must indicate that they are interested in applying for the award, provide the name of the individual applying for the award, provide the applicant’s AASM Membership ID Number, primary membership section, secondary membership section(s), which section should review and consider the submission, and the date the applicant completed his/her training. The submission process must be completed before Tuesday, December 15, 2009.
